ActivEye Receives Prestigious Funding from NIST for $1.8M
Briarcliff Manor, New York.
– September 2003
— ActivEye® Inc., a leading provider of automated video
security solutions, has been awarded a $1.8M grant from the
Department of Commerce
National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST)
Advanced Technology Program (ATP). This highly competitive
award was given to only 44 companies.
"To be recognized by the US Department of Commerce to develop
a next generation security surveillance system underscores our
technical leadership and the strength of our team", said
Carolyn Ramsey, President and CEO, ActivEye®. "With this
prestigious award, we will continue to address today’s most
pressing security problems by melding the best of CCTV and
Access Control."
With this
opportunity, ActivEye® will develop an automated
security surveillance system that combines closed circuit
video cameras, radio-frequency identification technology, and
computer modeling and analysis of human behaviors, with the
aim of achieving rapid, reliable detection of suspicious
events warranting the attention of security personnel. This
next generation technology is expected to increase by a factor
of five the effectiveness of operators to recognize and
respond to security issues in real-time by significantly
reducing the tedious job of watching multiple CCTV monitors.
The ATP provides cost-shared funding to industry-led teams to
help advanced projects that have the potential to spark
important, broad-based economic or social benefits for the
United States. ATP awards are made on the basis of rigorous,
competitive peer review of both scientific and technical merit
and the prospects for broad-based commercial deployment.
Further information about ATP is available at www.atp.nist.gov.
